Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov congratulated Turkiye and Uzbekistan for qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.
Axar.az informs speaking at the meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Asadov noted that Turkiye’s national team secured qualification for the World Cup—taking place in the US, Mexico, and Canada—after defeating Kosovo 1-0 on March 31, marking the first time in 24 years that Turkiye has reached the tournament.
“This magnificent victory has become a source of joy for all of us. We wholeheartedly congratulate our brother Turkiye on this historic achievement. At the same time, Uzbekistan’s first-ever qualification for the World Cup brings special pride and happiness. This historic accomplishment was achieved by brother Uzbekistan last June,” he said.
He emphasized that both achievements can be seen as victories for the Turkic world as a whole:
“These victories clearly reflect the advancement of Turkic peoples in all fields.”
