Turkish authorities identify 43 suspects in forest fire cases.
Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu, that Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said that investigations into 10 forest fires reported over the past week in Adiyaman, Antalya, Aydin, Balikesir, Bilecik, Kirklareli, Kocaeli and Sinop resulted in six suspects being investigated.
Two were arrested, one was placed under judicial control, and the detention procedures for three others are ongoing.
He said that since June 1, investigations have been launched into 64 forest fires in 22 provinces, resulting in the identification of 43 suspects. Of them, 11 have been arrested, 18 have been placed under judicial control, and three remain in custody.
Gurlek said authorities would ensure that those who deliberately start forest fires, as well as those who cause fires through negligence or carelessness, are held accountable.
