The opening ceremony of the 2026 European Women’s Volleyball Championship, co-hosted by Baku, was held in the Azerbaijani capital.
The event took place at the National Gymnastics Arena, where entertaining shows were organized for the spectators.
As part of the opening ceremony, the teams of Azerbaijan and Portugal entered the arena, followed by the presentation of their national flags and the playing of their anthems.
The European Women’s Volleyball Championship runs from August 21 to September 6, co-hosted by Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Sweden and the Czech Republic.
Azerbaijan will host Group C from August 21 to 28, with six teams competing: Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Romania.
