Iranian authorities have informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was not hit in the wave of Israeli airstrikes and that no increase in radiation levels has been recorded at the Natanz nuclear facility, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi confirmed.
Grossi also stated that the agency is closely monitoring the situation and remains in direct contact with both Iranian officials and its inspectors inside the country, Caliber.Az reports per the agency’s post on X.
Earlier, Grossi stated that the IAEA could confirm the Natanz uranium enrichment facility was among the sites struck.
The strikes came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a large-scale military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. In a video statement early on June 13, Netanyahu said the Israeli Air Force had attacked Natanz, as well as other facilities linked to Iran’s ballistic missile program and scientists involved in nuclear weapons development.
“We are at a decisive moment in Israel's history,” he said, noting the operation would continue for several days.
Iranian state media and witnesses confirmed explosions in multiple locations across the country, including Tehran, Isfahan, and Natanz.
