The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) killed Mohammed Emad Alrahman Abu Taima, a commander of a Hamas Nukhba cell who allegedly took part in the October 7 attack on Kibbutz Nirim, during an airstrike in southern Gaza on July 7.
The IDF said Abu Taima commanded a Nukhba unit responsible for carrying out ambushes against Israeli troops, Caliber.Az reports.
In recent months, he was also allegedly involved in planning additional attacks, maintaining the operational readiness of militants and recruiting new members to Hamas.
The IDF stated that Abu Taima posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces operating in the area and was killed in what it described as a precise airstrike.
According to the military, measures were taken ahead of the strike to minimise civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
The IDF added that forces operating under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations against what it described as immediate threats.
