Azerbaijan's Energy Minister, IEA mull cooperation on energy efficiency and COP29

The Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov met with Mary Burce Warlick, Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) within the framework of the UN General Assembly, APA-Economics reports.

Issues related to cooperation in the field of energy and COP29 were discussed at the meeting. Innovations related to the establishment of renewable energy production capacities in Azerbaijan, their integration into the network, the use of offshore wind energy and the implementation of green energy corridor projects in various directions were mentioned.

As well as, the measures taken by Azerbaijan, which joined the the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge and The Global Methane Pledge initiatives, on energy efficiency and emission reduction were reviewed. In this regard, the project of the Energy Efficiency evaluated in terms of contribution to obligations.

During the talks, opinions were exchanged on the priorities of the COP29 agenda, as well as, the adoption of new global collective financial quantities and the encouragement activity of Azerbaijan on the renewal of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and intensive cooperation with the IEA in this context.
