In a striking display of innovation at TEKNOFEST, Türkiye’s largest aerospace and technology festival, the General Command of the Turkish Gendarmerie unveiled its newest high-tech asset: combat-ready robot dogs.
These four-legged robots have officially joined the ranks of Türkiye’s explosive ordnance disposal units, adding a new layer of precision and safety to field operations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
While the gendarmerie has long employed bomb disposal robots and unmanned ground vehicles, the arrival of robot dogs marks a major leap forward in tactical support.
The robot dogs were developed by JAVDES, a firm affiliated with the Gendarmerie Public Security Foundation, in partnership with leading robotics companies DPM Tech İleri Teknolojiler A.Ş and KINOVA Robotik.
Designed for rapid and safe detection of explosive materials, the robot is equipped with a quadruped mobility platform, a dexterous manipulator arm, a precision grip tool, and a handheld remote control system. With full remote operation capabilities, human operators can maintain a safe distance during high-risk missions.
Built for tough terrain and adverse weather conditions, these machines are not just mobile—they’re smart. The robot dogs come fitted with state-of-the-art sensor arrays, high-definition cameras, and autonomous navigation systems that allow them to move and react independently in complex environments.
Officials from the Gendarmerie have confirmed that more robot dogs will soon be integrated into their ranks, signaling a broader shift toward advanced, AI-powered tools in Türkiye’s domestic security operations.
