A Russian guided aerial bomb struck a nine-storey residential building in Sumy, Ukraine, late Friday, killing two municipal employees and injuring eight civilians, including two children.
Axar.az reports, citing Kyiv Post, that the bomb hit between the third and fourth floors, triggering fires and trapping residents under the rubble. Rescuers pulled four people, including a seven-year-old boy, from the building alive.
At least three of the injured were reported to be in serious condition. The attack also damaged at least four apartment buildings in the city’s Kovpakivskyi district.
Sumy City Military Administration head Serhii Kryvosheienko said Russian aircraft dropped six or seven guided aerial bombs during the evening attack. Strikes were also reported near the communities of Stepanivka and Bezdryk.
Rescue workers continued searching the rubble for possible survivors and extinguishing fires.
