Armenian businessman and leader of the “Strong Armenia” party Samvel Karapetyan has filed a lawsuit against Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, the Datalex judicial acts portal posted the claim, APA reports.
Karapetyan is demanding that the speaker retract allegedly false information damaging to his honor and dignity and pay 6 million drams (approximately $16,000) in moral compensation.
According to the lawsuit, Karapetyan's legal team argues that statements made by Simonyan on social media on May 19, 2026, were false and defamatory, and is seeking their official retraction.
In addition, the plaintiff is demanding that court expenses be covered by the defendant.
It is noted that Karapetyan had previously filed similar lawsuits against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party and Armenia's Public Television.
