The conference, titled “Great Leader Heydar Aliyev: From the Past to the Future – Leadership and Vision,” was organized by the European University of Lefke, with support from the Heydar Aliyev International Cultural Centre and the Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.

In his address, Arikli emphasized that the strategic vision and far-sighted leadership of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation for the country’s significant achievements. He noted that the ongoing transport and logistics projects would further consolidate Azerbaijan’s strategic superiority, which is seen as vital not only for Azerbaijan but also for the broader Turkic world.

“I am confident that these new initiatives will strengthen the ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye,” Arikli said.

The conference also featured a documentary film dedicated to Heydar Aliyev, showcasing his monumental role in shaping modern Azerbaijan and his influence on the entire Turkic world. During the event, Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, praised Heydar Aliyev’s legacy as one of great significance for the region. Tatar highlighted the importance of Azerbaijan’s support for Northern Cyprus, specifically referring to Azerbaijan’s role in the recognition of Lefkosa’s observer status in the Organisation of Turkic States. He underscored that TRNC is “the window of the Turkic world in the Mediterranean” and expressed readiness for comprehensive development of ties with other Turkic states.

Professor Mehmet Ali Yukselen, Rector of the European University of Lefke, also spoke about the lasting impact of Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, describing him as a visionary leader who left a profound mark on Azerbaijan and the Turkic world. “His life was dedicated to his nation, and his intelligence, determination, and vision serve as an example to the entire world,” said Professor Yukselen.
