President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s steadfast support and solidarity with Pakistan during a phone call with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to the Presidential Press Service, the call took place on May 15 against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions following military attacks by India against Pakistan. Prime Minister Sharif briefed President Aliyev on the developments and informed him about the establishment of a ceasefire, Caliber.Az reports.
Expressing his appreciation for Baku’s principled stance during the crisis, the Pakistani Prime Minister thanked Azerbaijan for its diplomatic and political support, describing it as a powerful testament to the brotherly ties between the two nations.
In response, President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the ceasefire and reaffirmed the unwavering support and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people and government with Pakistan. He emphasised that Azerbaijan will continue to stand by its close ally in the face of external challenges.
The two leaders also discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors, highlighting the strong and enduring partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, founded on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.
