Tehran officials have announced arrangements for a multi-day funeral ceremony for the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, Mohammad Amin Tavakolizadeh, Tehran’s deputy mayor for cultural and social affairs, said on Tuesday that preparations are underway for three days of farewell ceremonies and a 24-hour funeral procession in the capital.
The final venue is expected to be either Tehran’s Musalla (Grand Prayer Hall) or the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, though a final decision has not yet been made.
Following the Tehran ceremonies, officials said the procession will continue to the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad, where additional commemorations are planned.
Authorities indicated that the burial is expected to take place at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.
It is noted that Iran’s former leader Khamenei was killed on February 28 as a result of a U.S.-Israeli attack at his home on Palestine Street in Tehran, together with his wife, daughter-in-law, and 14-month-old grandchild.
