"Statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy opposing a ceasefire on May 9 represent a global threat," said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to her, Zelenskyy’s stance effectively endangers foreign leaders planning to visit Moscow on Victory Day. She also warned that veterans participating in the parade and commemorative events could be at risk.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that Russia expects Ukraine to take final steps to de-escalate the situation during the holiday period.
He noted that the proposed ceasefire aimed to assess Kyiv’s willingness for a peaceful resolution.
