A source at the Azerbaijani company SOCAR Green has stated that the company is actively identifying innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Founded in 2024, SOCAR Green is engaged in researching and developing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies as part of Azerbaijan's energy transition efforts. While specific CCUS projects are still in the early stages of development, SOCAR Green is focused on identifying and promoting innovative approaches to reduce carbon emissions in the country’s energy sector. These initiatives aim to support both national and global decarbonization goals by capturing, utilizing, and safely storing carbon emissions that would otherwise contribute to environmental pollution, the company said.
As part of its activities, SOCAR Green is working with international partners to conduct preliminary assessments and research on the most effective CCUS technologies suitable for Azerbaijan’s unique energy landscape.
"SOCAR Green is committed to integrating CCUS into Azerbaijan's energy infrastructure and plans to implement these technologies alongside other sustainable energy initiatives. The evaluation and development of these projects reflect SOCAR Green’s dedication to building a low-carbon economy and ensuring that Azerbaijan plays a key role in global efforts to combat climate change," the company added.
