Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the G7 summit in France delivered important results for Kyiv, including agreements to further strengthen the country’s air defense system.
“The G7 summit in France brought important results for Ukraine. Most importantly, we agreed on additional reinforcement of Ukraine’s air defence. There will be new steps to increase pressure on Russia over the war — pressure in the name of peace. Our partners will provide support for our defence and energy resilience,” Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.
“It is important that we share a common understanding of the key challenges and the specific steps needed to address them. Our global unity is genuinely reducing Russia’s ability to continue this insane war against Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who is helping us,” he added.
The G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, from June 15–17, 2026, was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. It brought together leaders from the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union to address pressing global issues amid ongoing conflicts and economic uncertainties.
Discussions focused on the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East following recent US-Iran developments, global economic imbalances, critical minerals supply chains, and emerging technologies.
US President Donald Trump held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and expressed intentions to push for peace in Ukraine.
The gathering also highlighted broader G7 coordination on sanctions, energy security, and international partnerships, even as differences among members on certain trade and foreign policy approaches were noted.
