The Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) was established with the primary mission of clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in areas affected by the Karabakh conflict. The agency is responsible for ensuring the safety of civilians and facilitating the return of displaced people to their houses by removing the remnants of war that pose significant risks. ANAMA's work includes surveying and marking hazardous areas, conducting demining operations, and providing education on the dangers of mines. It has played a vital role in the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. Over the years, the agency has received support from various international organisations, enhancing its capacity to carry out its mission effectively and contribute to peace-building and recovery in post-conflict areas.
