A senior Houthi commander Abu Mohsen a-Rassas, who was director of the security department in the Marib Governate of Yemen, was eliminated in a US air strike along with other Houthi militants.
Abu Mohsen a-Rassas was reportedly eliminated in an operation targeting the Marib district, Caliber.Az reports citing Arab media.
The strike was part of a broader overnight campaign by the United States Air Force, which is said to have carried out 17 separate airstrikes across Yemen. These operations are understood to be part of Washington’s ongoing efforts to counter Houthi threats to regional stability, particularly amid heightened tensions linked to the conflict in Gaza and Red Sea shipping disruptions.
To recall, a woman was killed and a man injured on April 25 night when a US airstrike struck a residential home in Yemen’s northern Saada province, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported. The attack targeted a property in the Sahar district and was part of a broader escalation, with the network reporting that a total of 32 US airstrikes had hit various locations across northern Yemen throughout the day.
No additional casualties were confirmed at the time of reporting.
Tensions between the Houthi movement and the United States have intensified markedly since Washington resumed its military campaign against Houthi targets on March 15. The renewed strikes are aimed at curbing the group’s missile and drone attacks on Israel and its threats to international maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea.
Houthi officials claimed that US forces have conducted more than 1,200 air raids on Yemen since mid-March, resulting in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
