Azerbaijani Parliament to reappoint Kamran Aliyev Prosecutor General

Today, at the meeting of the Committee for Law Policy and State-Building of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), the issue of “Granting consent for the appointment to the position of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was discussed, APA reports.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has once again nominated Kamran Aliyev for the position of Prosecutor General.

Following discussions, the issue was recommended for the plenary session of the parliament.

Note that according to Article 16 of the “Law on the Prosecutor’s Office”, the term of office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and territorial and specialized prosecutors is 5 years. Kamran Aliyev was appointed Prosecutor General on May 1, 2020.

According to the Constitution, the Milli Majlis grants consent for the appointment to and dismissal from the position of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan based on the nomination by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
