"The world is in a difficult situation right now, so the main thing we all need to do at COP29 is to reach an agreement on the most optimal terms," the European Union (EU) Special Envoy for Climate and Environment, Anthony Agotha told APA.
He said that the European Union is the largest donor in the formation of climate finance: "We are determined to continue this leadership. However, we believe that other rich countries must also understand their responsibilities and join this work. Together, we are trying to raise more funds to support vulnerable countries that are most affected by the climate crisis."
The EU Special Envoy noted that the climate crisis is accelerating and causing significant damage.
“At the same time, this situation presents a great opportunity for countries to move away from fossil fuels and build sustainable, green economies. By embracing a circular economy, we can prioritize not only the health of our planet, but also the well-being and prosperity of all people,” the diplomat emphasized.
