Baku, The Hague strengthen economic links with new Chamber of Commerce

The Azerbaijan–Netherlands Chamber of Commerce was officially inaugurated in the Netherlands during a reception marking Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, bringing together representatives from business, government, and diplomatic circles.

According to information from the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Netherlands, cited by domestic media, the new organisation was presented in the presence of business leaders from both countries, as well as representatives of international organisations, the diplomatic corps, and state institutions.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mammad Ahmadzada, described the establishment of the chamber as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding economic ties.

Erik Weststrate, Director for European Affairs at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the importance of economic cooperation in the relationship between the two countries. He pointed to the successful operations of Dutch companies in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that the new chamber would help deepen the partnership.

The Mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, also underscored the importance of the initiative, calling the creation of the chamber a meaningful step in enhancing economic relations.

The chamber was founded by several major companies, including NEQSOL Holding, Royal Dutch LV Logistics, Damen Shipyards, Royal Haskoning, Signify, and Van Oord. Senior representatives of these companies attended the event and delivered remarks.

Arjan Bos, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board, said the primary objective of the organisation is to establish an institutional platform that will support the development of economic cooperation, expand business networks, and foster new partnerships between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands.

Participants at the event also noted that many of the founding companies have long been involved in joint projects with Azerbaijan, and that the new chamber is expected to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
