The Middle Corridor will be a key focus of the German–Azerbaijani Connectivity Conference, scheduled to take place in Baku on October 6, 2026, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) has stated.
Organised by the AHK Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Azerbaijani government, the conference will bring together stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities in infrastructure, transport, logistics, green energy and digitalisation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The event is expected to help translate recent institutional cooperation into concrete projects and long-term partnerships.
"Azerbaijan's strategic position between Europe and Central Asia, particularly along the Middle Corridor, creates additional opportunities in transport, logistics and resilient supply chains. Port and railway infrastructure, digital logistics solutions and reduced transit times are among the most promising areas for practical German–Azerbaijani cooperation," AHK Azerbaijan noted.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, links China with Europe through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The TITR Association supports the route by facilitating administrative procedures, promoting a competitive transport environment and improving operational efficiency for participating countries.
According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport, freight volumes transported along the corridor have grown steadily, rising from 759,000 tonnes in 2019 to 4.48 million tonnes in 2024.
Data from the Organisation of Turkic States show that cargo traffic reached 4.7 million tonnes in 2025 and is projected to grow by a further 10% by 2027. By then, the corridor's annual capacity could reach 10 million tonnes, strengthening Azerbaijan's role as a regional transit hub and creating new opportunities for infrastructure investment.
The TITR aims to increase annual freight volumes to 11.4 million tonnes by 2030.
