Ilham Aliyev receives Slovak Deputy Prime Minister

On May 19, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received Tomas Taraba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of the Slovakia.

Axar.az informs that the President Ilham Aliyev recalled his visit to Slovakia last year, as well as Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s visit to Azerbaijan, noting that several high-level delegations from Slovakia have recently visited the country. He emphasized that this reflects active cooperation between the two states. Aliyev highly praised the friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia and expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation.

Thanking the president for the hospitality, Taraba said that Slovakia has always stood by Azerbaijan. He stressed that his country has consistently supported Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

The Slovak deputy prime minister also noted that Azerbaijan has proven to be a reliable supplier whenever Slovakia needed gas.

Taraba also highlighted the importance of hosting World Urban Forum 13 in Azerbaijan.

In response, President Aliyev thanked him for his remarks and noted that Azerbaijan currently supplies gas to 12 European countries, including 10 member states of the European Union, adding that this number may increase in the future.

During the meeting, the two sides noted the strategic partnership nature of bilateral relations and exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation.
