Winners Announced at Baku Marathon 2025

The “Baku Marathon 2025,” organized on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has officially started.

Axar.az reports that nearly 28,000 participants registered for the event held under the slogan “Win the Wind.”

Now in its 8th edition, the marathon has attracted over 200 official and honorary participants, including well-known political, cultural, and public figures.

In addition to Azerbaijani citizens, foreign residents of Azerbaijan and participants from countries such as Germany, the United States, Australia, Bahrain, the UAE, the UK, France, India, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Poland, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine joined the marathon.

Before the marathon began, individuals with physical disabilities and children with Down syndrome took part in a symbolic walk.

Launched in 2016, the Baku Marathon aims to support sports development and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Although the marathon officially began at 10:00 AM, the race-day spirit was already in full swing by 7:00 AM at the Flag Square. In the athlete zone, yoga and warm-up exercises were held, and the fan zone featured DJs, entertainment, and interactive games.

The 21 km route starts and ends at the National Flag Square and runs along the Seaside Boulevard and main streets and avenues of the capital.

Winners Announced at Baku Marathon 2025

The winners of the “Baku Marathon 2025,” organized on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, have been determined.

In the men’s race, Turkish runner Atac Sezgin took first place.

Russian athlete Vitaly Shafar came in second, while another Turkish runner, Murad Emekdar, finished third.

In the women’s category, Ukrainian runner Nataliya Semenovych finished first. Azerbaijani athlete Anna Yusupova came second, and Japan’s Eriko Soma placed third.

Cash prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners.

It’s worth noting that nearly 28,000 participants registered for the marathon.
