Two mass graves were discovered during excavations conducted in April, said Eldar Samadov, Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War and Missing Persons and Hostages of Azerbaijan, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.
He noted: “One of the mass graves was found near the city of Shusha, at the intersection of the Shusha-Khankendi and Shusha-Lachin roads. The remains are believed to belong to at least five individuals. Due to road construction, the remains were removed from the site. Another grave was discovered along the Askeran-Khojaly road, where remains believed to belong to at least seven missing martyrs were found. Experts suggest the remains belong to civilians who were buried in a non-traditional manner.”
