Baku Court on Grave Crimes sentences Ivan Svetlichny to 16 years on treason case

The trial of Ivan Svetlichny, arrested and exposed in a criminal case investigated by the State Security Service (DTX), has concluded, APA reports.

Today, Baku Court on Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Aygun Gurbanova, sentenced Svetlichny to 16 years and 1 month imprisonment for state treason.

Svetlichny, an Azerbaijani citizen, was charged under Article 274 (treason) of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code. He was accused of espionage—acting against Azerbaijan’s state security, sovereignty, and defense capabilities—by allegedly carrying out tasks for foreign intelligence services.
